EDUCATION NEWS

  • The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 on Thursday night to delay the demolition of the former Sam Houston campus—allowing community members time to explore potential future uses. Trustee Karla Cardenas said she believes the delay gives locals a chance to impact the property's future.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State University will host the 2025 Accounting Lecture Series on Tuesday, Sept. 23 when alumnus Mark Low from Juno Energy LLC presents his talk 'Unlocking the Power of Financial Leadership' at the Elta Joyce Murphey Auditorium in the Mayer Administration Building—he will share key lessons on financial literacy and business growth.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Dr. Amy Lemaster was named the new Executive Director of Human Resources for San Angelo ISD on Thursday evening. She brings over 16 years of education leadership—having served as a U.S. Army linguist and held roles as a teacher and school leader.  San Angelo LIVE!

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Alcohol & Drug Awareness Center for the Concho Valley will hold its 21st annual Let It Go! Recovery Rally & Run tomorrow at El Paseo on 34 W. Ave. D at 8:30 a.m. The 1-mile or 5-kilometer color run is part of National Recovery Month and has already drawn a record number of attendees.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, top high school football games in West Texas feature Lake View hosting Lubbock High as the undefeated Chiefs aim to improve to 4–0 while Junction faces Mason in a rivalry game that could end Mason's 19-game winning streak. Other matchups include San Angelo Central versus Belton, Bronte against Menard, and longtime rivals Ballinger and Brady renewing their contest.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Sixth-ranked Angelo State is hosting Western New Mexico on Saturday at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field with kickoff at 6 p.m. The Rams are coming off a 31-20 win over Eastern New Mexico that featured strong runs by Chad Pharies and an 88-yard kickoff return by Zeek Freeman.  San Angelo LIVE!
