- ➤ LongHorn Steakhouse will open its new San Angelo location on Monday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. at 3980 W. Loop 306 after a construction delay pushed its original Sept. 19 opening date; the project launched in January with an estimated cost of $2.4 million and job postings went live in mid-August. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ San Angelo State Park hosts an abandoned ghost camp known as the Lower Ghost Camp that was built in 1995 and abandoned around 2002—its cracked concrete tables and decaying awnings blend with overgrown cacti and dry brush. Paranormal investigators recorded shadowy figures and voices there in 2015—park staff announced on Sept. 17 that the ghost camp trail remains closed for repairs after storm damage while the rest of the park stays open for day use. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Angelo State University broke its fall enrollment record by enrolling 12,003 students—up from 11,542 last fall. The school also reported strong gains in international, transfer, and graduate enrollments. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ Houston Harte Expressway will close on Oct. 1 & remain closed through winter 2026 for extensive culvert repairs caused by flood damage between North Oakes Street & Bell Street. TxDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and follow marked detour routes to avoid significant delays. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Congressman August Pfluger announced the re-launch of the Congressional Youth Advisory Council for high school juniors and seniors in Texas’s 11th district—giving students a chance to join up to four virtual meetings with government leaders. The program will also offer a spot at the Youth Leadership Conference in Spring 2026 at no cost and may count for academic or community service credit. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ The Roosevelt Lofts reopened Thursday in downtown San Angelo after a historic hotel was turned into modern loft apartments, and city officials along with community leaders attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony — marking a key milestone in downtown revitalization. San Angelo LIVE!
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Central Bobcats (2-2) are testing their 2-game win streak as they travel to Waco this weekend to play against Waco High School (0-4) — they won 49-21 in Belton last week. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ The Lake View Chiefs are 4-0 as they face the Levelland Lobos today at San Angelo Stadium at 7 p.m.—the Lobos have historically beaten the Chiefs and may challenge the home team. - ➤ The Angelo State women's tennis team began its fall season on Thursday at the ITA South Central Regional in Tyler and will compete through Saturday. The team includes three returning players and five newcomers—champions in singles and doubles will qualify for the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia. San Angelo LIVE!
