CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Hispanic Heritage Museum and Cultural Center kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month on Saturday with their annual banquet and awards — honoring community members for their cultural contributions. The event was held to recognize achievements in Hispanic culture. FOX West Texas

- ➤ Master Sgt. Brandon Lawson — a San Angelo native — celebrates 20 years of Army service as he leads training operations at the Combined Arms Training Center in Germany. San Angelo LIVE!
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Angelo State football team moved up one spot to No. 5 in the national rankings despite not playing last week and holds a 4-0 record with wins over Fort Hays State, Emporia State, Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico. They will host No. 9 UT Permian Basin in a Top 10 matchup scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. at LeGrand Stadium—an event that could shape their season. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Former San Angelo Central standout Maverick McIvor threw for 317 yards and one touchdown as Western Kentucky beat Missouri State 27-22 on Saturday—improving the Hilltoppers to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Conference USA play. They will play at Delaware later this week. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ The San Angelo Central Bobcats beat Waco High 48—6 on September 29 after forcing three turnovers and a kickoff return touchdown; they won three straight games and paused play this week before district games begin on October 10th. The Lake View Chiefs lost 40—33 to Levelland after nearly tying the score twice and will finish their homestand against Burnet on Friday. KWFR
- ➤ High school football district standings for Week 6 have been updated for teams across West Texas—San Angelo TLCA is 0–4 in District 3-3A Division I while other schools report their records, and all teams are set to play this week.
