COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wall neighbors Blaize Benson and Stratley Strube won champion titles at the 2025 State Fair of Texas in Dallas. Blaize, a junior at Wall High School, won champion honors for his steer that sold for $16,000 at auction — marking a win for local students in Tom Green County.  San Angelo LIVE!

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • San Angelo Animal Services said a dog was killed in a javelina attack near Cornerstone Christian School and Brentwood Daycare earlier this week—officials urged pet owners to leash pets and secure trash to reduce wildlife contact.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Mayer Museum will host its first fall Night at the Museum event on Tuesday, Oct. 7 to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. The free event runs from 5-8 p.m. and offers family-friendly activities such as sugar skull making—ASU mariachi and ballet folklorico performances—and educational displays.  FOX West Texas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • US House members August Pfluger and Jodey Arrington and local residents shared their opinions on the government shutdown—many warning that the federal standoff could hurt local services.  FOX West Texas

SPORTS NEWS

  • Angelo State University will host its first collegiate rodeo from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25 at the Fiesta Arena at the San Angelo Fairgrounds — part of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association event held with the Cinch Roping Fiesta. The event will feature three performances and a morning slack, with $10 tickets for most shows and free admission for the slack.  San Angelo Standard-Times
  • The Lake View Chiefs lost 46–36 to Burnet at San Angelo Stadium on Friday after they gave up a 29–22 halftime lead, and they will try to improve next week at their nondistrict finale in Brownfield.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • While nearly all 2A–6A teams take a bye week, the COVER1 Crew reports that six–man football draws local interest with a state-ranked matchup between the Water Valley Wildcats and the Rankin Red Devils and a showdown in Coke County between the Bronte Longhorns and Robert Lee Steers—also naming a standout 6–man player as Player of the Week.  San Angelo LIVE!
