EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Angelo State University’s history department will host two free lectures in October to mark the 80th anniversary of World War II’s end — Dr. Adam Seipp will deliver a keynote lecture with a student art exhibit on Oct. 14, and Dr. Rebekah McMillan will discuss the Holocaust on Oct. 30 at the Houston Harte University Center. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City offices are closed Monday, Oct. 13 for Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day—trash pickup continues and Fort Concho remains open for self-guided tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with tickets costing $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and military, $1.50 for children ages 7-17, and free for kids 6 and younger. - ➤ The City of San Angelo announced that crews will remove traffic signals at the Edmund and Van Buren intersection to set up a temporary four-way stop from Monday, Oct. 13. The work is part of an ongoing roadway improvement project—crews will upgrade pedestrian crossings and urge drivers to use caution in the area. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ San Angelo TLCA’s Zechariah Cuevas set a school record on Wednesday at the District 6-3A Cross Country Meet with a time of 17 minutes, 24 seconds while finishing fourth on the 5,000-meter course at Abilene Christian University—his performance helped his team secure third place and qualify for the area meet. - ➤ The Angelo State Rambelles women's soccer team will host St. Mary’s at 1 p.m. Saturday at LeGrand Soccer Complex as they try to extend their conference wins + they recently secured two victories and aim to defend their championships this season. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ In West Texas this week, high school teams are set to play key matchups such as Wall facing Merkel and Central hosting Midland Legacy as part of their district contests. Other games include Grape Creek at Coahoma, Bangs at Ballinger, and Reagan County against Ozona — all teams are aiming to boost their playoff hopes. San Angelo LIVE!

1-4 p.m. — LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field — $15 for general admission, free with student ID — Cheer on the Rams as they face Midwestern State and enjoy the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen at halftime.
