- ➤ Channel catfish were stocked into the Concho River in downtown San Angelo on Friday, Oct. 17—this release was the second-to-last stocking of the year before a final release on Oct. 31 through the TPWD Neighborhood Fishin’ program. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ Angelo State University will pay tuition and fees for active-duty military students if their federal Tuition Assistance is halted during the government shutdown. Students enrolled in 8-week online courses starting Fall B on Oct. 20 can re-register if dropped, with costs reaching up to $85,000—covered by the ASU President's Circle and private donations. - ➤ Reigning PRCA world champion tie-down roper Riley Webb will face retired four-time champion Caleb Smidt in a match roping event on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. The contest will involve 12 runs in a rematch from last year—tickets are available at local outlets as part of the Cinch Roping Fiesta in San Angelo.
