  • PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans will open on Oct. 29 on South Bryant Blvd.—owners Heather and Ryan Suiter plan to serve beignets, cold brew and Southern hospitality as they bring New Orleans flavors to San Angelo.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • ZIPS Car Wash will host ribbon cutting events—offering free washes, giveaways, and military family recognition—in Plainview on Tuesday, October 28 at 11:30 a.m. and in San Angelo on Thursday, October 30 at 11:30 a.m., marking upgrades to 35 locations this year and highlighting their partnership with Folds of Honor.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Thursday night, Giovannie and the Hired Guns rocked City Limits at 4206 S. Bryant Blvd with a blend of rock, country, and Latin soul that energized the crowd—frontman Giovannie Yanez outlined future tour dates and plans to expand into new areas.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Congressman August Pfluger said that potential beef imports from Argentina could hurt U.S. ranchers and risk American cattle's health—he signed a letter with other lawmakers urging the government to use full transparency and science in trade decisions.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Gov. Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to raise the state emergency readiness level to III today as severe storms and flooding threaten large parts of Texas. Texans are urged to monitor local forecasts and prepare emergency plans — extra response crews and resources have been activated.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, the Central Bobcats must win over Midland High at 7:30 p.m. at Central to avoid an 0–3 start while other Concho Valley teams face key district matchups—#2 Water Valley hosts #5 Robert Lee, Wall Hawks play Grape Creek, Christoval meets Forsan, and Ozona’s Villareal pursues a season record in rushing yards.  KWFR
  • The Lake View Chiefs won their first district game since 2021 — beating Pecos 42-14 in a contest delayed by lightning that ended an 11-game district losing streak and improved their record to 6-2; the team will play Big Spring next Friday on Halloween.  KWFR
  • Angelo State football will play at Sul Ross State in Alpine today at 7 p.m. for the first time since 1975, and the Lobos come off a 45 to 42 loss at Western New Mexico. Angelo State baseball assistant coach Sam Mote was named Division II Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association — making him the first coach from the Lone Star Conference to earn the honor.  KWFR
  • In Pecos, the Lake View Chiefs won and earned their first winning season in 21 years—Central Bobcats need a win while a premier matchup between Water Valley Wildcats and Robert Lee Steers is set for tonight as a player of the week aims to make Texas High School Football history.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State held its first college rodeo today as ASU joined six other schools from across the state—students competed in rodeo events to test their riding skills. Organizers said the event will pave the way for more college competitions in the future.  FOX West Texas
  • The Wall Hawks beat the Grape Creek Eagles 48—0 in a district clash that continued despite a long rain delay on Friday night, with Wall controlling the game from start to finish.  San Angelo LIVE!
