- ➤ Due to the government shutdown, the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank will start handing out emergency meal boxes on Saturday as SNAP benefits pause. They will support local pantries and affected government workers—donations of food or money are encouraged to help meet the community’s needs. San Angelo Standard-Times
- ➤ The Salvation Army’s emergency shelter opened Wednesday evening at 122 W. 2nd St. to offer warmth and safety for individuals and families facing freezing temperatures—residents can go directly to the shelter for help. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ During Episode 27 of Chat with the Chief, Burt Sempier and Police Chief Travis Griffith walked downtown today discussing issues like hiring at SAPD, Halloween safety and a potential increase in calls for service — they also talked about plans for First Responder Day. FOX West Texas

- ➤ PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans opened its first San Angelo store on Oct. 29 at 2902 S. Bryant Blvd., offering coffee, cold brew and beignets with Southern-style hospitality. Owners Heather and Ryan Suiter (who moved from Midland-Odessa ten years ago) said they chose San Angelo for its lake and relaxed pace. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ The third 7 Brew drive-thru coffee stand in San Angelo began construction in August and placed its building on the ground at 6105 Sherwood Way Wednesday. It will open Dec. 1 as a location that offers coffee, smoothies, shakes, and teas—adding 50 new local jobs. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ Angelo State University will host an art exhibit called Constructed Landscapes by Fort Worth-based artist Anthony Wright at the ASU Mayer Museum—located at 2501 W Ave N—beginning Nov. 4 with a special opening reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Family-friendly STEM, sculpture, and VR activities will be on offer that evening, and the artist will give a lecture on Nov. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building. - ➤ Concho Valley runners who qualified for the UIL Cross Country State Championships will compete at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock this weekend, led by regional champions Isa McGinnis from Sterling City and Cooper Ratliff from Mason. Girls and boys from various schools will run in different class groupings, with 1A, 3A and 5A races on Friday + 2A, 4A and 6A events on Saturday. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Ozona running back Christian Villarreal has rushed for 2,848 yards and 43 touchdowns this season and logged 380 yards with 7 touchdowns in a shortened game against Colorado City, setting him on pace to break three state records. - ➤ The Central Bobcats will try to tie for second-place in district with a win Friday night against winless Odessa High as they pursue back-to-back district wins. The Lake View Chiefs will aim for a district title chance when they play at Big Spring—both games start at 7 p.m. KWFR
- ➤ Angelo State volleyball player Madi Parrish passed her 1,000-kill mark as the Belles swept Western New Mexico in Silver City—she is the 16th player in program history and the first since 2016. ASU soccer will play its final home game today at 5:30 p.m. against UT-Dallas on Military Appreciation night as they remain the #3 seed for the postseason conference tournament. KWFR
