- ➤ A San Angelo couple opened Nook & Press at 3566 Knickerbocker Road in late October to offer books, thrift items and a space for reading and family events. The owners plan a grand opening on November 15 with dessert and craft events and will donate proceeds from used book sales to a local shelter—an effort that aims to support the community. - ➤ On Halloween 2025, trick-or-treaters in San Angelo roamed neighborhoods—visiting local homes for candy and marking a traditional holiday celebration. San Angelo Standard-Times
- ➤ Teague Brothers Band is playing a rock and roll show in San Angelo tonight—John Teague’s new single 'Fire' from record Wish You the World debuted high on the Texas CDX Traction chart, and the band will head to Midland after the show. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ The sixth annual Día de los Muertos celebration is held today at Bart DeWitt Park in downtown San Angelo with live performances, Lucha Libre, a Catrina contest, piñatas, and a river procession at 6:30 p.m.—local food, craft, and beverage vendors add to the festive atmosphere, and a community altar invites guests to honor loved ones. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Brady and Sterling City schools in the Concho Valley are likely to drop to a lower UIL classification next year as enrollment numbers fell—Brady had 232 students, down from 292, and Sterling City had 101, down from 136. School districts have until Nov. 7 to submit final numbers before UIL announces updated classifications in late November. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ San Angelo ISD trustees approved two new health-science courses for the 2026-27 school year to prepare students for nursing and kinesiology careers. The courses will use existing staff and resources along with additional CTE funding to meet local workforce needs. San Angelo LIVE!
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas Parks and Wildlife finished its catfish stocking on Friday by releasing 602 channel catfish into the Concho River in San Angelo—some reached 16 inches in length. The agency said trout stocking will begin just before Thanksgiving and anglers may keep up to five fish per day with a fishing license. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ San Angelo State Park released its November schedule with guided hikes for bison and longhorn viewing every Wednesday and Saturday at 10 a.m., a Monarch Walk on November 2 from 11 a.m. to noon at Bell’s Trailhead, Constellation Stories on November 20 at Stephens Central Library, a Star Party on November 22 from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. at Red Arroyo Campground, a women’s sunset hike on November 23 at Isabel Harte Multi-Use Area, and a Turkey Trot on November 29 near Bell’s Trailhead — the park also held a Cryptid Crawl on October 31 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the River Bend Restroom along the Ghost Camp Trail. - ➤ Concho Valley schools performed well at the UIL Cross Country State Championships held Friday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock—Menard’s junior Danni Ruiz placed third in the girls race, and Irion County’s freshman Parker Kramer finished fourth in the boys race while the Garden City girls earned a top team placement. - ➤ Angelo State University head softball coach Travis Scott announced the 2026 schedule for the Rambelles featuring 25 home games at Mayer Softball Field. The schedule includes season openers in Conroe from Jan 30 to Feb 1 and later matchups with doubleheaders and tournaments planned for May and June. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Friday, the Lake View Chiefs set a school record with a 76 to 49 win over Big Spring on the road and now prepare for a district title game next week against rival Andrews at San Angelo Stadium—improving to 7 to 2 overall and 2 to 0 in District three to four A Division I. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ The COVER1 Crew discussed the playoff seeding as the Lake View Chiefs aim for a win in Big Spring tonight while the Central Bobcats battle for a playoff spot against Odessa and Grape Creek could finish as high as second — James Bouligny will attend The Battle of 377 between the Brownwood Lions and Stephenville Yellow Jackets and Christian Villarreal could set three state records after Brady's overtime win against the Early Longhorns. - ➤ On Friday the Central Bobcats with a 4 to 4 record traveled to Odessa for a District 2-6A matchup against the Odessa High Broncos who have a 0 to 8 record and held a 21—20 lead at halftime after key touchdowns and turnovers. The Bobcats faced multiple penalties that kept the game close and will need to clean up in the third quarter to secure a district win. San Angelo LIVE!
