COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Salvation Army has launched its Red Kettle Campaign in San Angelo with a $90K goal to support families in need this season. Red kettles will appear at local stores from early November until Christmas Eve and volunteers are needed to ring the bells — offering essential help to community programs.  San Angelo LIVE!

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new drive-thru coffee shop called 7 Brew will open later this fall at 6105 Sherwood Way—near Whataburger and Kohl's—in San Angelo and add 50 local jobs. It offers a wide range of unique drink combinations as the brand launches its third location in town.  San Angelo Standard-Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Angelo State University was named a Great College to Work For for the 11th straight year—one of only 76 nationwide and one of eight Texas four-year institutions honored. The university added new degree programs and facilities that support faculty and staff satisfaction and boost its ability to recruit talented employees.  San Angelo LIVE!

HEALTH NEWS

  • San Angelo’s Pregnancy Help Center of the Concho Valley will open a free STD clinic at 2010 Pecos Street on January 5. The remodeled building—donated by Brandon Moore—will reduce crowding at the center and expand free testing and treatment for residents.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Last week, high school football teams in West Texas had big wins as San Angelo Central beat Odessa High 35-32 to clinch a playoff berth and Lake View set a school record with a 76-49 win at Big Spring. Ozona won 46-40 with Christian Villarreal rushing for 411 yards and five touchdowns while Junction shut out their opponent 69-0 (and Olfen showed progress in a close game).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State setter Gabi Ashcraft was named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week after she led the Belles to an undefeated weekend—she posted a career-best 31 assists and 13 digs against No. 14 West Texas A&M. The team will play road games against Midwestern State and Lubbock Christian this weekend to try to extend its win streak.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Wall Lady Hawks swept Tolar in Bangs on Tuesday night to win the Area Championship with scores of 25—23, 26—24, and 25—19. They will play Idalou in the Regional Semifinals at a time to be announced.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Today, the Lombardi Award™ Committee announced 13 semifinalists for the 2025 award honoring top college linemen and linebackers, including three athletes from Texas. Texas Tech’s LB Jacob Rodriguez—who forced seven fumbles—and DE David Bailey, the nation’s sack leader with 11.5 sacks, were highlighted among the semifinalists.  San Angelo LIVE!
