COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today the annual Tamale Fest is at the Pop Art Museum on 125 W. Twohig Ave with free admission from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. — featuring over 40 vendors, tamale-eating and cook-off contests, and live music by DJ Mirage, costumed big head performers, and Mariachi Los Caciques.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Families in need can pick up free diapers, wipes, and children’s essentials at Concho Valley Turning Point’s Diaper Drive-Thru today from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.—the event, held at 528 E. Highland Blvd, welcomes everyone without needing ID.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • San Angelo honors veterans today with its 22nd annual Veterans Day parade running from 11 a.m. — 12 p.m. downtown, featuring the 85th Anniversary of Goodfellow Air Force Base. Immediately after the parade, the San Angelo Elks Lodge will host a luncheon for veterans, active duty members, and their families from 11:30 a.m. — 2 p.m. at 2121 Chadbourne Street.  FOX West Texas
  • Santa will arrive at Sunset Mall at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 to kick off a series of Christmas events—featuring story time, a tree lighting, milk and cookies plus a coloring contest with a lunch prize with Santa. Additional activities will include pet day from Nov. 17-Dec. 22, holiday bingo, a Black Friday giveaway on Nov. 28, an ornament contest on Nov. 29, gingerbread decorating on Dec. 6, a Winter Kids Business Showcase on Dec. 13 and ugly sweater day on Dec. 19.  San Angelo Standard-Times

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bechtel has been selected by Doral Renewables to design and build the Cold Creek Solar and Storage project in Tom Green and Schleicher counties—this renewable energy facility will use more than 850,000 solar panels and a 340 MWh battery system to generate 430 MW for the ERCOT grid, with commercial operations expected to begin in 2028.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Chad Decker of Decker Custom Homes was named the 2025 J.B. Sandlin Builder of the Year by the Texas Association of Builders at a dinner in Austin on Tuesday. He was honored for his strong leadership, quality work and energy-saving designs, and his active roles in local builder associations and training programs.  San Angelo LIVE!

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Local builder Spider Homes will host an open house event on Sunday, Nov. 9 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Bentwood Country Club where seven new-build homes with custom finishes and buyer incentives — including a $10,000 credit, club membership, and prize draws — will be available for tour.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wall and Sterling City won their volleyball playoff matches on Thursday to advance to the regional finals. Wall swept Idalou 25-13, 25-18, 25-14—marking head coach Kimberly Branch’s 200th win—and will face the winner of Holliday and Odessa Compass Academy while Sterling City edged Archer City in a five-set match and will play Windthorst next week.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Central Bobcats will face El Paso Pebble Hills in a first-round playoff game on Nov. 13 (7 p.m. at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa). They secured their postseason spot with a 52-16 win over Frenship last night (riding a three-game winning streak).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Amarillo High forfeited six wins due to an ineligible player — one of which was a Week 2 game against San Angelo Central now giving the Bobcats a 7-3 record, while Amarillo falls to 1-8. The Bobcats face a must-win game tonight against Amarillo Tascosa to try to secure a playoff spot.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • At halftime on Friday night at San Angelo Stadium, the Lake View Chiefs trailed Andrews 20 to 14 — they must mount a comeback to win their first district title in 21 years while ending an 18-game losing streak to a longtime rival.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Five high school football games will take place in West Texas this week as Lake View hosts Andrews at San Angelo Stadium for a district title, Frenship faces Central at San Angelo Central, Ozona plays Christoval, Brady travels to Clifton and Panther Creek meets Rochelle for a playoff spot—picks favor Lake View 42 to 28, Frenship 41 to 38, Ozona 54 to 20, Brady 36 to 24 and Panther Creek 42 to 36.  San Angelo LIVE!
