Volunteers are needed today at Fairmount Cemetery to place more than 1,800 American flags on veterans' graves ahead of Veterans Day.
They will meet at 2 p.m. at the cemetery gazebo (112 West Avenue N) to honor veterans from several wars.
On Saturday, crowds gathered at the Pop Art Museum on 125 W.
Twohig Ave for Tamale Fest where contestants competed in an annual tamale-eating contest that kicked off an entertainment lineup with DJ Mirage at 1 p.m., big head performers at 2 p.m. and Mariachi Los Caciques at 4 p.m. More than 40 vendors offered local food, crafts and art along Twohig Ave and five tamale vendors competed in a cook-off with awards including best authentic tamale and people’s choice until the fest ended at 6:30 p.m.

The UIL high school football playoff schedule for West Texas is set with games on Thursday and Friday featuring teams from the Concho Valley and other regions.
San Angelo teams, San Angelo Central and San Angelo Lake View, will play their bidistrict rounds at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa and at San Angelo Stadium at 7 p.m. Thursday — other match-ups are scheduled at venues in Pecos, Big Lake, and Big Spring.
