CULTURE NEWS

  • The Angelo State University Percussion Ensemble will perform its fall concert 'Glimmer' today at 7 p.m. in the newly renovated Elta Joyce Murphey Auditorium inside the Mayer Administration Building on W. Ave. N—this free event welcomes audiences of all ages and features a wide range of percussive pieces from contemporary works to classic ragtime.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Angelo State University named retired Air Force Lt—Col Ricky Hudec as its 2025 Veteran of the Year in honor of Veterans Day. The school highlighted his long military service and lasting impact by establishing a scholarship to support ROTC students.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Angelo observes Veterans Day today with city offices and several government services closed while garbage collection and landfill operations continue as usual. Fort Concho and the Barracks Visitor Center are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.—and a free ceremony honoring veterans begins at 11 a.m. at Fairmount Cemetery’s Veterans Section.  FOX West Texas
  • The San Angelo Fire Marshal Billy Clemons reminded residents to use space heaters with built-in safety features and to keep them away from drapes, bedding, and other flammable items—placing them on flat surfaces in kid-free zones. He also advised homeowners to check their smoke detector batteries to help prevent fires.  KWFR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Angelo State’s men’s basketball team started 3-0 after upsetting No. 10 Colorado School of Mines 74-66 at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic on Sunday. The Rams, led by Jaqai Murray’s 20-point effort, will host Western Colorado at noon Friday — marking a strong season start under coach Vinay Patel.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches released preseason state rankings for boys basketball covering classes 6A through 1A. Duncanville tops Class 6A and Beaumont United leads Class 5A — the full ranking list names teams in order for each class — and the rankings provide a snapshot for season expectations.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Ozona Lions finished a perfect season for the first time in 23 years and will face the Anson Tigers in the playoffs on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in Big Spring—running back Christian Villarreal, who has 3,505 rushing yards and 52 touchdowns, leads the team against a tough opponent.  San Angelo LIVE!
