COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Salvation Army in San Angelo is appealing for donations as its 2025 Red Kettle Campaign nears its end, having raised about $62,000 toward its $90,000 goal. Bells will continue ringing outside stores until Christmas Eve to support local social services.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Many San Angelo retailers and restaurants will adjust hours for the holidays. On Christmas Eve, Target, Walmart and H-E-B operate with early opening and evening closing times, while most locations are closed on Christmas Day and city offices and trash collection follow a modified schedule.  San Angelo Standard-Times

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Grocery stores in San Angelo will have special holiday hours on New Year's Eve. H-E-B, Market Street, and Walmart will open from 6 a.m.-11 p.m., Sam's Club from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Food King from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.  San Angelo Standard-Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • San Angelo ISD announced on Thursday that two more elementary schools will close by summer 2027 due to declining enrollment; a committee of parents, leaders and employees will meet in spring 2026 to review attendance zones and suggest changes effective July 1, 2027.  San Angelo LIVE!

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is stocking local lakes and rivers with rainbow trout over the next few months—2,600 fish will join Oakes Street Lake in San Angelo on Dec. 23, with more planned on Jan. 23 and Feb. 20 while other area sites already received trout.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Houston Harte between Main and Bell reopened Friday after repairs fixed culvert damage from the July 4 flood; the road had been closed (since Oct. 1), forcing detours along Pulliam Street and the work finished ahead of schedule.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • A section of U.S. 67 reopens after repairs from July flood damage. Motorists can now resume travel on this stretch + officials note improved road conditions for local commuters.  FOX West Texas

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Wall Hawks won their first state championship by finishing the season 16-0 with a 25-24 win over Newton on Friday, Dec. 19, led by coach Craig Slaughter with standout plays from offensive MVP Reid Robertson and defensive MVP Gavin Sisson.  KWFR
  • Two Angelo State football players earned All-American honors as Xavier Walton secured a first-team spot and Owen Seaver joined the second team. Walton led his team with six interceptions while Seaver recorded 7.5 sacks during the season.  San Angelo LIVE!
