CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Acclaimed songwriters Matt Hillyer and Zac Wilkerson will perform an intimate acoustic song swap at Arc Light — inside the Clarion Hotel — on Friday, October 10 with doors opening at 8 p.m. and the show starting at 9 p.m. The event will offer heartfelt stories and stripped-down tunes that reflect their Texas music roots. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ In September, the Railroad Commission said San Angelo ranked among the top areas for new drilling permits as District 7C received 53 permits and 121 oil completions—statewide, 587 original permits were issued for oil, gas, injection, and other wells. San Angelo LIVE!
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Goodfellow Air Force Base announced that the inbound South and Pedestrian Gates remain closed until further notice and that all personnel and visitors must use the North Gate, which operates 24 hours a day. The South Gate now opens only for outbound traffic from 3 to 5 p.m.—the Visitor Control Center and Commercial Vehicle Inspection Area resumed normal operations today until 6 p.m. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ San Angelo City Council will meet Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center to consider extending the disaster declaration from the July 4 storm and flash flooding and to amend the city budget for police and water patrol operations—finance Director Tina Dierschke and City Attorney Brandon Dyson will present proposed changes. Council members will also review new board rules, downtown reports, TIRZ projects, and an animal adoption program. San Angelo LIVE!
