A coin flip could decide which two of three Concho Valley teams make the playoffs

Sonora leads District 4-2A Division I heading into the final week

Ballinger4-17-2
Forsan3-27-2
Ozona3-24-5
Christoval2-33-6
Colorado City1-44-5
Reagan County0-62-8

If you follow Ozona, Forsan or Christoval, Friday night could get wild. All three could finish in a tie for third place in , and only four teams advance. The three head coaches would then meet, and a coin flip would send two teams to the playoffs and one home.

The tie happens only if all three of these results occur. Christoval coach Tanner McLean breaks down the Cougars' scenarios on the Five Star Sports Podcast.

  • Ozona loses to Ballinger
  • Forsan loses to Sonora
  • Christoval beats Colorado City

Point differential among the three would normally break the tie. But each team had a blowout win over another that passed the district's 17-point cap: Ozona beat Christoval 44-6, Forsan beat Ozona 46-22, and Christoval beat Forsan 33-13. The only thing certain for now is that Sonora will be the No. 1 seed.

The Wrap

Sixty years after winning a state title, the Central Bobcats' 1966 champions got a midfield reunion before the Bobcats' week 10 home finale. Former team captain Don Aylor and cheerleader Mary Beth Scott then looked back on the Five Star Sports Podcast. Still a champion, always a Bobcat.
